If you receive this message while trying to change your ColorSync profiles:

"The factory profile for the display could not be found."

Try resetting your PRAM. To do this:

1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Hold down the CMD, Option (or Alt for International keyboards), P and R keys.
3. Keep all these held down and press the power-button to start the Mac.
4. The grey screen will appear, and after a short moment the Mac will restart, at which point you can release the keys.

You're done.

Alternatively you can go here http://www.freebsd.org/where.html, and stop wasting money on a glorified unix kernel running on substandard, overpriced hardware Happy.

ps Hi Brown Grin. I can’t believe this site is still here Grin.

all the best, mate,

Laugh. Hi there Killa. Yes, this place is still here. Grin.

Yes, I have a MacBook Pro these days. I did use Ubuntu on a PC laptop for a good two years, and still use the server-edition for work. I also have a Gentoo server and Ubuntu desktop at home.

Good to see an old face here anyway. What have you been doing with yourself?
I’m afraid I’ve been stuck in the drunken, blurry haze of academia for the past five years, watching as an increasing amount of letters appear after my name.

What about you? Still eating Bovril and coding?
Pretty much. Grin. Glad to hear you're living it up in the world of college/university, not that it sounds like you'll remember much of it. Razz. What's your speciality?
